Why Church Membership is important?

The New Testament does not present the idea of being a Christian and not being part of the church.  Most of the books of the New Testament were written to churches.

The churches in the New Testament regularly met together:

Acts 2:46-47

And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,  47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Some reasons to join our church:

  1. For the Discipleship you will receive.  You will regularly hear God’s Word and thus grow in the faith (Colossians 1:28-29).
  2. To worship God in the context of His church (Colossians 3:12-17).
  3. For Christian fellowship and encouragement (Hebrews 3:13-14; Galatians 6:2; 1 Corinthians 12:25).
  4. To edify the church.  By being part of the church, you strengthen other Christians (1 Thessalonians 5:11; Colossians 3:12-17).
  5. To evangelize the world.  Our love for one another within the church is a witness to the world (John 13:34-35).
  6. To be accountable to other Christians and responsible for helping them (Matthew 18:12-17; Galatians 6:1-2; 1 Thessalonians 5:14).
  7. For assurance of salvation.  Our relationships with other church members assures us of our salvation (1 John 2:10; 3:14; 4:7; 5:1).
  8. For spiritual protection in an evil world (Ephesians 6:18; Hebrews 3:13-14; James 5:16).

Christians should meet together for mutual encouragement and are warned not to forsake meeting together:

Hebrews 10:23-25

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.  24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,  25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

If you would like to join our church, come forward at the end of one of our services.  To be a church member, you need to be a baptized Christian. Please talk with the pastor if you would like more information.
